Dorothy M. Durbin, 75, of Brownstown, died at 12:25 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 3 at Liberty Christian Church, rural Brownstown with Jim Dann officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the church and for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Liberty Christian Church, Northside Christian Church, Liberty Cemetery or Missions Outreach Fund.

Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy Mae was born on Thursday, March 23, 1944 in Love County, Oklahoma to Todd and Dottie Mae (Acrea) Burkhart. She married Eddie Gibson in 1963 and they raised 4 children. She assisted her husband in his ministry along with Max Whited at Northside Christian Church, Vandalia, Bethany Christian Church, Brownstown, and St. James Christian Church, St. James. Eddie preceded her in death in 1999, she then married Jack Durbin on July 19, 2002 and helped raise his 2 youngest children and inherited 2 more sons. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church and led the Ladies Group Bible study. Dorothy was a wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, secretary and song leader.

She is survived by her husband Jack of Brownstown; sons, Tony Gibson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Justin (Jessica) Durbin, Vandalia, Jeremy Durbin, Vandalia, and Chandler Durbin, Clay City; daughters, Terry (Ken) Baldridge, Centralia, Jan Gibson, Atlanta, Jill Gibson, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Kenley (Brandon Owens) Durbin, Flora; 10 grandchildren, Kristine Sanders, Josh Gibson, Ryan and Renee Baldridge, Justin Jarvis, Kenneth, Kevin, Marcus, Robby and Abby Durbin; 5 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Gibson and one great granddaughter, Hope Gibson; brothers, Kenneth (Irene) Burkhart, J.D. (Wootie) Burkhart, Glester (Gladys) Burkhart, and Donnie Ray (Mary) Burkhart; sisters, Pat Abney, Velma (Don) Murray, and Connie Burkhart.
