Margaret "Maggie" Priess (82) of Altamont

Margaret K. “Maggie” Priess, 82, of Altamont, died at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 31 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont with Rev. Christudasan Kurisadima officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clare Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. Rosary at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to Illinois Kidney Foundation, Boy’s Town of Nebraska, or to the donor’s choice.

Margaret was born June 14, 1937 in Long Island City, NY to Gerald and Mary Ellen Fallon. She married Harold Priess on August 31, 1957 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Astoria, Queens, NY.

She was blessed with 3 children. One son, Edward of Altamont; two daughter, Jody Ann Priess and Lynn Quick of Altamont; four grandchildren, Jesse (Shanna) Purgerson of Altamont, Dylan Osteen of Granite City, IL, Brittany Osteen of Altamont, and Lance Priess of Dieterich; three great-grandchildren, Callyn Dye Dalilah and Abel Purgerson of Altamont.

She was preceded in death by; her parents; sister, Mary Ellen Ralph; nephew, Robert E. Ralph; and mother and father-in-law, Walter and Ella Priess.

She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church and the CCW. She enjoyed being on the dinner committee at church. She always loved spending time her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren, and loved having them all together.
