Waneta Ruth (Stock) Bushue, 100, of Effingham, formerly of rural Mason, IL, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 27 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Edgewood. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery or St. Anthony Schools. Ruth was born on February 18, 1919, in Farina, IL, the daughter of Alex and Olivia (Roedl) Stock. She married Ruben F. Bushue on May 5, 1943, in Kinmundy, IL, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2012. They were married for 69 years.

Ruth enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, and baking. She loved making home-made ice cream and cooking for her family. Ruth enjoyed volunteering and over the years had donated more than 30 gallons of blood. Ruth was a current member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and a previous member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Edgewood, being in both church’s Council of Catholic Women. Ruth found great joy in attending mass daily. She worked at St. Anthony Hospital for 34 years. Ruth also found joy in walking to the neighbors to check up on them. She could always be seen with a smile on her face and a gleam in her eye.

Ruth is survived by her children, Lois Kramer of Farina, Danny (Maggie Wiedman) Bushue of Effingham, Richard (Sue Jansen) Bushue of Teutopolis, Don (Aleta Flach) Bushue of Effingham, and Marsha (Ben) Hilligoss of Tolono; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Rose) Stock of Carlinville; sister, Dorothy (Gordon) Finch of Metamora; and sister-in-law, Doris Stock of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchildren, Kim Bushue and Nicholas Kramer; son-in-law, Marion Kramer; and brothers, Alva Stock, Maurice Stock, and Richard (Helen) Stock.
