Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Atkinson, age 69, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 2:32 AM Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Liz’s life will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 20 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Mike Knepper and Scottie Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 PM Tuesday. Elizabeth Ann, better known as “Liz” was born on March 29, 1950, in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Carl and Ruby Helen (Moorehead) Sebastain. She graduated in 1968 from Newton Community High School in Newton, Illinois. Liz married her high school sweetheart Terry Groves and to this union a daughter Lisa was born. Later Liz married Aaron Atkinson and he preceded her in death. Liz worked for many years at Huck’s in Newton and also as a waitress. Liz was a member of the Central Christian Church in Newton. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Liz is survived by: Daughter – Lisa (Scott) Turner of Newton, Illinois Grandchildren – Kierstyn Sparks and Aaron Turner both of Newton, Illinois Great Granddaughter – Baylor Elizabeth Sparks of Newton, Illinois Honorary Daughters - Amber Groves (Jason) McReaken of Windsor, Illinois and Ashley Groves (Justin) Kincaid of Sumner, Illinois Brother – John (Sue) Dappert of Robinson, Illinois Sister – Glenna Sowers of Jewett, Illinois Niece – Trisha (Bob) Falk Nephew – Jim Hardy

Liz was preceded in death by her parents Carl Sebastin, Ruby Dappert Rich and Glenn Dappert, husband, great grandson Caden Sparks and sisters Patty Hardy, Nita Wellbaum and Kay Starwalt.
