Kevin Buenerkemper, 65, of Normal and formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:13 PM Sunday, October 6, 2019, at his home in Normal.

Kevin was born on June 30, 1954, in Effingham to Donald Howard and Marianne (Leach) Buenerkemper. He married Cynthia Lee at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro on October 13, 1979. She survives of Normal. Kevin worked for 20 years as the administrator of Jackson County Ambulance Service until his retirement. He currently worked the last ten years for Dell Computer in Bloomington. He was Catholic and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Merna. He was a former member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Effingham. He was an active member of the Murphysboro and Bloomington Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his mother Marianne Buenerkemper, wife, Cynthia Buenerkemper of Normal; Four Children Kori (Buenerkemper) Vasquez and husband Rick of Phoenix, AZ, Coleby Buenerkemper and wife Irish of Rodenbach, Germany, Christopher Buenerkemper of Bloomington, and Collin Buenerkemper of Portland, OR; Grandchildren: Thomas Buenerkemper, Anthony Vasquez, Adrianna Buenerkemper, Kristopher Buenerkemper, Lucian Buenerkemper, Caleb Buenerkemper, Olivia Buenerkemper; a special family friend Nic and Stephanie Dawson of Colorado; a faithful dog Oliver who stayed at his side during his illness; three brothers and one sister: Kent Buenerkemper and wife Theresa of Texas, Cheryl Westondorf and husband Carl of Dieterich, Kurt Buenerkemper of Georgia, and Kraig Buenerkemper and wife Holly of Teutopolis.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and nephew- Jamie Westondorf.

The funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, October 11 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro. Father James Buerster, Rev. Gary Darnell and Bill Brady will officiate. Burial will follow at Murdale Gardens in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Friday until time of service at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to Parkinson’s Disease Research or the American Cancer Society (Carcinoid Tumors).
