Garland E. “Gene” Dunn, 92, of Toledo, IL passed away at 6:15 PM Saturday, October 5, 2019 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 10 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time Thursday. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, IL with military rites by Cumberland County Veterans.

Gene was born November 13, 1926, the son of Raymond Merle and Edna M. (Hutson) Dunn. He married Tressia Keller on March 30, 1946 in Henderson, KY and she preceded him in death.

Surviving is his three sons Dave Dunn of Greenup, Dan Dunn of Greenup and Rob (Tammy) Dunn of Toledo; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and brother Lyle Dunn.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harold Bud and Robert Bob Dunn.

Gene worked for IDOT Hwy Maintenance in Paris, IL, drove a truck for Bekins Trucking, was a district manager for Platoline for 6 years, and worked building maintenance for EIU for 20 years. He served in the Navy from 1944-1946. Gene was a member of the Toledo American Legion and he enjoyed spending time pitching horseshoes.
