Iris May (Meyer) Johnson, age 85, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 8:12 AM Saturday, October 5, 2019, at her home.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Iris, will held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 9 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, with Diane Ogdon officiating. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Dieterich, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday. Iris was born on May 1, 1934, at the family home in rural Wheeler, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Florica (Foster) Meyer. She married Jesse Nelson Perry on November 30, 1957, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1962. She later married Gene Johnson on December 27, 1978, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1990.

Iris was an art teacher for over 40 years and taught school at Elliottstown and Dieterich. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, making crafts and being outdoors.

Iris is survived by:

Children – Susan (Ronald) Lang of Keyestone Heights, Florida and Jeff Perry (Patti Wilson) of Louisville, Illinois; Grandchildren – Callijah Chadwick and Jessica Lang; Twin Sister – Inis (Joe) Probst of Wheeler, Illinois; Brother – John Meyer of Wheeler, Illinois; and Sister-in-law – Sara Meyer of Dieterich, Illinois.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Francis “Donnie” Meyer and Eldon “Max” Meyer and a sister Phyllis Russell.
