Janet Sue Smallwood age 66 of Newton passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Janet’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery, rural Newton. Memorial gifts in honor of Janet may be made to the Fairfield Cemetery Fund.

Janet was born on January 29, 1953 in Martin County, Indiana the daughter of Harold and Wava (McKelvey) Spears. On August 26, 1978, Janet married Lowell Smallwood. He survives. Janet worked at the Filler-Up Buffet in Newton. In her free time, Janet liked being outdoors enjoying camping and fishing. She also loved to cook, sew and make craft items.

Janet will be loved and remembered by her husband Lowell Smallwood of Newton; son Mark Allen Rawley of Shelbyville, IN; three grandchildren Skyann York, Joshua Eric Wainscott and Macky Wainscott; seven great grandchildren; brothers Harold (Kay) Spears of Shelbyville, IN, Robert (Barbara) Spears of Worthington, IN; Ed Spears, Frank Spears and John Paul (Sabrina) Spears all of Newton; sister Mary Sparks of Newton, and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents and brother Michael Spears preceded her in death.
