Wallace Warren Walden, age 98, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 2:54 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday, September 29 at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. Funeral services celebrating Wallace’s life will be held at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Roger James officiating. Burial will be in the Mt Zion (Block) Cemetery south east of Greenup, Illinois. In loving memory of Wallace, memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion (Block) Church or the Cumberland Rehab Auxiliary. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left by clicking here.

Wallace was born on September 2, 1921, in Greenup, Illinois, the son of Guy W. and Vica E. (Shepherd) Walden. He married Delores Rogene Weemer on June 21, 1941. To this union a daughter Linda Kay was born on October 29, 1944, and she passed away on April 23, 2009. Delores preceded Wallace in death on May 23, 2019.

Wallace had been a farmer and retired from the Ettelbrick Shoe Factory in Greenup, after many years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Zion (Block) Church.

Wallace was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 77 years Delores, daughter and son-in-law Linda Kay (Charles) Harris and a brother Kenneth B. (Martha) Walden.
