Helen "Joyce" French, 77, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 2:20 PM Tuesday September 17, 2019, in Heartland Christian Village of Neoga, Illinois.

She was born June 12, 1942, in Shelbyville, Illinois, the daughter of James and Helen (McDonald) Thompson. She married Lewie "Joe" French, June 11, 1963  in Mattoon.  Joyce was a retired Owner/Operator of Helping Hands Daycare in Mattoon, for over 37 years and a member of the Maranantha Baptist Church in Mattoon.

Mrs. French leaves her husband, Joe of Mattoon; Children, James French (Jackie) of Trilla, Brian French (Tina) of Trilla, Lori Masulis (Charles) of Mattoon, and Marla VanScyoc (Dale) of Neoga; brothers, James Thompson (Connie) of Charleston, Gary Thompson (Vicky) of Windsor and Jerry Thompson (Marla) of Windsor; sister, Carole Burke (Mike) of Mattoon; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by, her parents; and one grandson, Tyler Masulis.

A Celebration of Joyce’s life was held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 20, 2019 in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with Pastor Dan Haifley officiating. Visitation was from 9:30 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial was in the Long Point Cemetery of Neoga.
