Mary E. “Betty” Pogue, 94, of Shelbyville, IL passed away peacefully at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, IL.

Betty was born on December 6, 1924, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Charles and Esther (Ulmer) Klauser. Betty and Dwight E. Pogue were united in holy matrimony on November 17, 1946, in Shelbyville, IL and were blessed with 66 years of marriage before his passing on February 26, 2013.

Surviving are daughter, Patricia A. Macklin and husband Michael (Mike) of Shelbyville, IL; son, John Pogue and wife Jacki of Shelbyville, IL; grandson, Robbie Macklin and wife Stacey of Effingham, IL; great-granddaughters: Jesse Macklin and Ella Macklin of Effingham, IL; step-grandsons: Richard Mares of Decatur, IL and Terren Mares of Houston, TX; step-granddaughters: Desila Merry and husband, Mark of O’Fallon, MO and Roxanne Mares of Austin, TX; step-great-grandsons: Kyle Merry and Derek Merry of O’Fallon, MO; step-great-granddaughters: Christine Hughes of San Francisco, CA, Alaina Mares, Jessica Mares of Decatur, IL and Paige Kemme of Effingham, IL; step-great-great-granddaughters: Denise Kemme and Sarah Kemme of Effingham, IL, Khloe Mares, Jordan Clifton, Avery Clifton and Wyatt Bond of Decatur, IL.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and brother, Charles Klauser Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
