Marcia A. Rexroat, 77, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Marcia’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. A Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Service of Remembrance and a CCW Rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, all at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Marcia was born November 14, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, to her father Edward H. Jones and mother Rosella (Diotte) Jones. She graduated from St. Teresa High School in Decatur, Illinois and attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, where she met her future husband, Paul A. Rexroat. The couple married on June 10, 1961.

Marcia and Paul opened the restaurant and catering service Rexroat's Distinctive Dining on June 8, 1983 in Effingham, Illinois. The business originated as a catering service out of their home. Throughout the next 24 years Rexroat’s served the community by catering to numerous events and weddings in the area until the couple retired and sold the business in March 2007. She didn’t miss the long hours and hard work. What she missed most were the many cherished employees, customers, and friends she made along the way. Many of those employees started with her when she opened the restaurant and stayed until she retired.

Marcia was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham, Illinois. She was known for being an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was active in many groups over the years, including Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, as the past president of St. Anthony of Padua CCW, 4th Day Decolores, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Girl Scouts of America leader, helped deliver Meals on Wheels, and was active in Fine Arts, County of Effingham (FACE). She adored the fellow members of her bible study and prayer groups.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family including her husband, Paul of Effingham; children, Allen (Lisa) Rexroat of Dieterich, Timothy (Kipp) Rexroat of Effingham, Deanna (Kevin) Kabbes of Olney, Nancy (Bob) Thompson of Springfield, John (Gina) Rexroat of Fleming Island, Florida, and Sara (Chuck) Morris of Greenwood Village, Colorado; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lynne (Ronnie) Reynolds of Decatur; and 2 nephews.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; and her niece.
