O. Gayle Barker (87) of Shelbyville

O. Gayle Barker, 87, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at noon on Saturday, September 7, 2019 in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, IL.

Gayle was born on October 25, 1931 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Herbert Edgar and Lora Bernice (Strohl) Barker. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1949. Gayle married Doris Roselie Smith on June 3, 1953. He was a grain farmer in the Shelbyville area until his retirement and served as a trustee for the Shelbyville Fire Protection District for many years. Gayle was a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau and the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Teresa L. Maxwell (Scott) of Dallas, TX; son, Jeff G. Barker of Dunlap, IL; granddaughters, Allison Barker of Dallas, TX and Madison Barker of Dunlap, IL; grandson, Blake Barker of Dunlap, IL; and brother, Richard Barker (Barb) of Champaign, IL.
