Jeanne (Johnnie) V. Liss (95) of Effingham

Jeanne (Johnnie) V. Liss, 95, of Effingham, IL, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Jeanne was born in Los Angeles, CA on October 11, 1923. She married Myron (Mike) Liss in October 1949 in Los Angeles, CA and lived in Long Beach, CA for many years. He preceded her in death in 1989. Jeanne attended UCLA with a major in Biology. Jeanne was a homemaker until her children grew up. She then went back to school, after earning a 4.0 GPA, and became a medical assistant, a job she loved. She and Mike later moved to Portland, OR.

Jeanne leaves her sons, Stephen Liss of San Pedro, CA and Les Liss (wife, Nancy) of Effingham. Also surviving are grandchildren, David Brown (wife, Stephanie) of Champaign, Ginny Liss of Effingham, and Joey Laue of Effingham. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
