Joy King, 79, of Teutopolis died at 5:30am Thursday, August 8, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services honoring the life of Joy will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, August 12, 2019 at The Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham. Visitstion will be held from 9 until the time of services on Monday. Pastor John Hollis will officiate. Interment will follow at Old Union Church of Christ Cemetery in Louisville. Triplett & Neal Funeral Home is in charge of the care and arrangements. She was born on December 11, 1939 in Phenix City, Alabama the daughter of the late Willine (McGilvary) Higdon. She married Charles F. King on July 3, 1968 in Oblong and he survives. Mrs. King was known for her skills as a seamstress. She enjoyed bowling and loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband Charles, she is survived by a son Charles Norman King of Effingham, a daughter, Charlene King of Teutopolis, four grandchildren, Johnny King, Dwayne McDonald, Tammie King and JamesKing, four great-grandchildren, Mia, Kolby, Addie and Harley and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. In addition to hermother, Joy was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Junior McGilvary and by a granddaughter, Joy Marie King.
