Carole R. Ludwig, 84 of Sigel, passed away Monday evening, August 5, 2019 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 9 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sigel with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church with a 6:30 p.m. parish rosary. Memorial donations may be given to St. Michael School. 

Carole was born April 4, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph Anthony and Frances J. (Dunn) Hummel. She married Clement A. “Clem” Ludwig on October 26, 1957. Carole was a janitor at the Ramada and Greyhound (Post House) in Effingham. She also did janitorial work at the St. Michael Church and rectory in Sigel. Carole was an active volunteer with Second Hand Rose and was a greeter at The Cross. She enjoyed being involved with DeColores and the “CRS” Club. Carole was an avid collector of dolls, cups and rosaries. She loved to play solitaire, putting puzzles together and enjoyed watching Harry Potter and Disney movies.

Carole is survived by her husband, Clem of Sigel; children, Joseph (Cathy) Ludwig of Sunrise, FL, Mary Henson of Iuka, Rita Reyes of Media, PA, Susan (Phil) Zakutansky of Effingham, Jane (Steve) Shannon of Longwood, FL, Steven (Lori) Ludwig of Sigel, Margaret (Kevin) Leitzinger of Oakdale, CT, Richard (Linda) Ludwig of Robinson and Karen (Ed) Welch of Groton, CT; 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; sons-in-law, Christian Reyes and Dennis Henson.
