Louise “Jane” Having, 76, of Effingham, IL, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 9 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jane was born on April 3, 1943, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of George and Alice (Wenthe) Henderson. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Having in 1967, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2001. Jane attended Effingham High School as a member of the Class of 1960. She earned her Bachelors and Master’s degree in Social Work at Eastern Illinois University. She retired from social work at One Hope United, where she assisted parents in providing care for their children in their homes. She was an avid volunteer and served as the secretary and president of the Effingham County Habitat for Humanity. She also enjoyed giving her time to The Cross at the Crossroads and the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. Jane was a member of the Effingham Garden Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Gideons International, and the First Baptist Church in Effingham, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir for many years.

Jane enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, camping with family, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends. She also enjoyed doing crossword and Jumbo puzzles to keep her mind sharp. Jane was a strong woman of faith. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a strong passion for helping others through her job as a social worker, as well as through her church and volunteer work. She was loved by many people, especially her family and will be greatly missed.

Jane is survived by her children, Devora “Devvie” (husband, Kelly) Hodge of Effingham, Jeff Gill of Effingham, Doug (Bichnhu) Gill of Carbondale, IL, Steve (fiancée Trish Reeves) Gill of St. Elmo, IL, and Amy (Tal) Braunecker of Effingham; grandchildren, Megan Hodge, Jaxon Gill, Jacob Gill, Tara Gill, Gabriel Gill, Bethany Gill, Lucas Gill, Bryce Gill, Tanner Gill, Trey Braunecker, and Logan Braunecker; and twelve great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; sister, Alice Marie Knofla; and brothers, George Henderson and Thomas Henderson.
