Phyllis Anne Pieper, 83, of Strasburg, IL, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2019 in Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 3 in Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL, with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in the church and also from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.

Phyllis was born on April 13, 1936 in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Everett and Mary Fern (Gardner) Evans. She graduated from Cumberland High School in the Class of 1954. Phyllis began working for the Crawford Shoe Company in Mattoon, IL. She married Glenn H. Pieper on September 3, 1955 in Strasburg, IL. Phyllis later worked for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company in the business offices at Mattoon, Charleston, Shelbyville, Pana and Effingham. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL. Phyllis enjoyed reading, shopping, mowing the lawn, and working in her flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn; three sons, Steve (Jean) Pieper of Strasburg, IL, Sid (Lori) Pieper of Henry, IL, and Shawn (Summer) Pieper of Grandview, TX; brother, Kenny (Susan) Evans of Mattoon, IL; sisters, Patty (David) Hilligoss of Charleston, IL, Marilyn Coleman of Phoenix, AZ, and Sue Grissom of Greenup, IL; and five grandchildren, Katie (Luke) Miller, Sara (Jessie Ahrens) Pieper, Kyle (Melissa) Pieper, Kelsey Pieper, and Braxton Pieper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Mary Fern Evans; step-mother, Mary Best Evans; brother, Rex Evans; and sister, Vera Shores.
