Mark Delane Hampton, a construction superintendent and a resident of Cartersville, Georgia went to Heaven Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the age of 68 after his battle with cancer.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with Rev. Sunder Ery officiating. Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery, Sigel. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that friends and family donate to Wellstar Foundation in support of the Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Community Hospice at 805 Sandy Plains Road, Suite 100, Marietta, GA 30066 or donate online at www.wellstar.org/givetohospice.

Mark was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 14, 1950 to Theodore and Faye Hampton. He worked in large scale construction, retiring in 2016 from Performance Construction Inc. as a project superintendent. In January 1978, he married his wife of 41 years, Sharon.

Mark was a devoted father and grandfather. He could be found enjoying an ice-cold Coca-Cola, driving to Panera for a Saturday morning cinnamon roll, or a golf course perfecting his speed golfing game. His ability to play 18 holes of golf in under 2 1/2 hours was unmatched. However, fall Saturdays were reserved for the Alabama Crimson Tide either in the stadium with 101,000 of his closest friends or at home watching them. All who saw, met or knew him, knew of his love for the colors of Crimson and White and his dislike of all things orange. He was rarely seen without a visible Script A proudly displayed on his chest.

Mark is survived by his wife, Sharon Hampton; children, Jason, Stephen and Jeremy; daughters-in-law, Amy and Jennifer, and his five grandchildren, Eloise (16), Ethan (14), Laney Dare (11), Elizabeth (10) and Jameson (9).
