Murl Anthony “Tony” Conder, 84, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Tony was born September 9, 1934, in Saint Paul, KY, the son of Robert and Mary (Harris) Conder. He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Garr November 24, 1955. Tony worked for Faucet Deering Company before moving to Effingham in 1974 to work for World Color Press until retirement. He was a member of St. Anthony Parish and an avid giver to the church and numerous charities. Tony loved fishing, writing and singing songs. He found the most joy in spending time with family and sitting on the back porch with his wife.

Tony is survived by his wife, Mary Conder of Effingham; sons, Steve Conder, Drew Conder, and Joe (Sherri) Conder, all of Effingham; daughter, Angie (Allyn) Koester of Effingham; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Laufer and Martha Feathers both of Louisville, KY; and brothers, Joe (Bernice) Conder, Charles Conder, and Steve (Janette) Conder, all of Louisville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Michael A. Conder and James N. Conder; brother, Robert Conder; and sister, Joyce Conder.
