Raymond V. Pearcy, 86, of Greenup, IL passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday July 6 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial with full Military rites by Cumberland County Veterans will be in the Harmony Cemetery rural Greenup, IL.

Raymond was born in Decatur, IL on March 25, 1933 to Grover & Diamond (Smith) Pearcy. He married Patsy Kemper on December 24, 1953 and she preceded him on April 20, 2008.

Surviving is his mother of Charleston; four daughters Penny Huddlestun (Dick Green) of Greenup, Rhonda (Wes) Humphres of Ashmore, Brenda Venatta (Don Catey) of Greenup and Lisa Hurt (Phillip Jacob) of Greenup; 10 grandchildren Travis (Cyndi) Green, Troy Green, Dalton (Allison) Kemper, Marki (Clayton) Millsap, Vance (Christina) Hurt, Chris Followell, Shalyn (Jake) Thompson, Brandon (Amy) Followell, Brett Followell and Trent (Keiko) Huddlestun; 10 great grandchildren; sisters Bernice Titley and Anna May Carlisle.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father and two brothers Robert and Leroy Pearcy.

Raymond got his start working for L & B Distributers as a beer salesman in Mattoon, then was owner of Ray’s Beer Distributing in Greenup for 8 years. He and Patsy owned and operated the Dutch Pantry in Greenup from 1984 to 1993.

Raymond proudly served his country in the US Army from 1951-53, during the Korean War. He was a life member and past commander of the Greenup VFW Post 4598. Greenup has sadly lost one of the best. A man short in stature, but tall in heart. A loving son and brother. A caring father to four daughters and a doting and proud grandfather and great grandfather.
