Eugene Andrew Kruenegel, age 75, of Vandalia, Illinois passed away at 12:54 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, Illinois.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Reverend Ryan Meyer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Ambuehl Cemetery in rural Farina, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Peter Lutheran Church or donors Choice. Eugene was born December 31, 1943, in rural Farina, Illinois, the son of Walter Kruenegel and Ida (Dippold) Kruenegel. Eugene was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Eugene was a farmer, tending to the livestock. He loved farm life and his gardening until his health forced him to move to Vandalia.

Eugene is survived by his brother, Richard Kruenegel (wife Louise) of St. Peter, Illinois; two sisters, Iris Caines of Bloomington, Illinois and Eunice Shaffer of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eugene was proceeded in death by his parents, Walter and Ida Kruenegel; one sister, Dolores Voelker of St. Elmo, Illinois; three brother’s-in-law, Virgil Voelker, Richard Caines, and John Shaffer.
