Nicholas Manley (five months) of Altamont

Nicholas Gabriel Manley was born on the 17th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, 2018 at Springfield (Sangamon County) Illinois, one of five children born to Marcus and Amy (née Daugherty) Manley. He was reborn into the Kingdom of God on December 23rd, 2018, through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Altamont. Nicholas faithfully heard and received the Word of God proclaimed to him and that Word brought forth faith in Christ unto everlasting life. He departed this life on the 26th day of May 2019, at the age of 5 months and 9 days.

Nicholas is survived by his parents Marcus and Amy, brothers John and Matthew, sisters Anna and Grace, grandparents Greg and Jill Manley, Scott and Denise Smith; uncles Lucas (Tara) Manley, Evan Smith, Nathan Smith; Aunt Erin (Richard) Giordano; cousins Abigail and Leah Manley, Grant Giordano. Also surviving are great-grandparents Gerald Miller, Bonnie Christman, great-great-grandmother Maralee Peters; and many great-uncles, great-aunts, and other family members.

The Funeral Service and Christian burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Altamont on Friday May 31st at 10:30 a.m. Interment of Nicholas’ body is at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Altamont, awaiting the resurrection of all flesh at the Last Day. A private family visitation will be held at Gieseking Funeral Home on Thursday. Public visitation will be on Friday prior to the funeral service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to the Family Life Center in Effingham, IL or Ronald McDonald House Charities.
