Ethel L. Zike Gaston, 91, of Greenup, IL passed away at 4:00 PM Saturday May 18, 2019 at the Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup, IL.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday May 24 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 to service time on Friday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery.
Ethel was born in Jewett, IL on December 12, 1927 to Robert & Mamie (Kingery) Oakley. She married Joseph Raymond Zike on July 24, 1948 and he preceded her in 1995. In October of 2000 she married Calvin Gaston and he preceded her in 2011.
Surviving is a son Raymond “Buddy” (Remola) Zike of Toledo; five grandsons Jeff Zike, Darren (Gwena) Zike, Dane (Rachel) Zike, Korey (Jan) Zike and Kenny Zike; 10 great grandchildren; brother Marvin Oakley and sister Ruth White.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son Darrel Zike in 2014; sisters Wealthy Hanley, Naomi Hampton and Mona Kiel; brothers Calvin and Alvin Oakley.
Ethel was a homemaker and retired from Fedders in Effingham after 38 years.
