Vernon L. McCammack (79) of rural Brownstown

Vernon L. McCammack, 79 of rural Brownstown, died at 9:46 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019 at his home with his family at his side.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown.Burial will follow at Forbis Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home with Ed McCammack and Mick McCammack officiating. Memorials may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Fund, Fayette County Hospice or the donor’s choice.

Vernon was born on Tuesday, December 12, 1939 in Sefton Township, rural Brownstown, IL to Forrest and Marjorie (Sidwell) McCammack. He married Sandra Sue Boone on August 26, 1961 and she preceded him in death on September 2, 1999. He then married Ruby Jean Bunyard on October 21, 2000. He was a graduate of Brownstown High School Class of 1959. 

Vernon was a lifelong farmer and retired from Owens Brockway, Vandalia, after 16 years of service. He was a member of the Hagarstown Baptist Church and the Fayette County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife of over 18 years, Ruby Jean McCammack, Brownstown; sons, Darren (Shaye) andDarrell ‘Peanut’ (Rita), all of Brownstown; stepsons, David Bunyard, Brownstown and Chris (Kim) Bunyard, Vandalia; 6 grandchildren, Trevor McCammack, Amber Buchanan, Rebecca Pryor, Dustin Murray, Cody Summers, and Kyle Summers; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Larry McCammack.
