James Donald “Huffy” Huffmaster, 86, of Stewardson, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, IL.

Huffy was born on August 30, 1932, in Prairie South Township, the son of Vance and Matilda (Boldt) Huffmaster. He was a 1950 graduate of Stewardson High School, was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a Sergeant in Korea from 1953-1954. On May 31, 1952 he and Lucille Stansfield were united in marriage and she preceded him in death on September 18, 2016. Huffy farmed in the Stewardson area his entire life, was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Stewardson, 40+ year member of the Stewardson Lions Club, served 11 years on the Stew-Stras School Board and was a member of the Stewardson American Legion Post 611. He truly enjoyed volunteering in the community.

Surviving are his children: Jana Williamson of Marshall, David (Doris) Huffmaster of Stewardson and Aaron (Rose) Huffmaster of Stewardson; four grandchildren: Del Rae Bridges, Audrey Huffmaster, Susan Williamson and David Williamson and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, two sisters and son-in-law Michael Williamson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10 at the United Methodist Church in Stewardson with Pastor David Ducommon officiating. Burial will take place in the Stewardson Cemetery with military honors by the Stewardson American Legion Post 611. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00-10:30 a.m. on Friday, all at the church. Memorials may be made in his name to the United Methodist Church or Trinity Lutheran School both in Stewardson. Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson is assisting the family.
