John Wesley Yingst Jr., age 86, of Teutopolis, Illinois passed away at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his home in Teutopolis, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 20 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may go to Pagel Funeral Homes to defer expenses or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here

John was born on October 21, 1932 in Union Township, Illinois the son of John Wesley Yingst Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Shup) Yingst. He married Bernice M. Alwardt on January 23, 1954 in Edgewood, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, tinkering with lawnmowers and other devices, and spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Bernice Yingst; 3 sons, Jerry Yingst (fiancé Katie), Denis Yingst (wife Teresa), and Tom Yingst (wife Charlotte); 3 daughters, Angela “Annie” Yingst, Tena Pruemer (husband Mike), and Sarah Clayton (husband Kevin); 1 brother, 4 sisters; 13 grandchildren; 34 great- grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Yingst; 3 children in infancy; 2 brothers and 11 sisters.
