Edward Eugene "Ed" Beard (82) of Sigel

Edward Eugene "Ed" Beard, 82, of Sigel, joined his Creator Thursday, April 11, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Ed was retired from Illinois Central Railroad of 44 years. The railroad ran through his veins, he came from a railroad family. Ed also served 6 years in the National Guard. He was a farmer and a Master Gardener!

Ed was born January 30, 1937, to Samuel and Velma (Lybarger) Beard.  He married Wanda Wolke January 29, 1961 and she survives.  Ed was proud of his two sons, Daniel and his wife Jean and their kids, Kelsey, Sam and Kylee; and Todd his wife Tara and their kids, Trevor and Tegan Michael and husband Travis; great grandchildren, Athena and Björn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Three siblings, Raymond, Garland and Clara Belle.

A Celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 10:00 AM Monday April 15 in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois, with Pastor Steve Massengill officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday and one hour before the services at the funeral Home. Burial will be in the  Brush Creek Cemetery Cumberland County, Illinois.
