William M. "Bill" Prewitt, 80, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at his home in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 16 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery. Masonic rites will be held at 9:00 a.m. with visitation to follow until time of service Tuesday morning at the church. Memorials may be given to Shriners Children’s Hospital or to Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting. Bill was born May 31, 1938 in Seymour, Indiana, the son of William S. and Mary H. (Bridgewater) Prewitt. He served with the United States National Guard and was involved in printing sales for his working career. Bill married Janet K. (Lockman) on February 15, 1963. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham, Effingham Elks Lodge 1016, National Rifle Association and a member of the Effingham Country Club for over 40 years. Bill was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Seymour, Indiana for over 50 years and later became a Shriner.

Bill is survived by his wife, Janet of Effingham; son, Mark (fiance, Kathy) of Effingham; daughter, Jan Prewitt of Chicago; daughter-in-law, Robin Prewitt of Beecher City; brother, Michael of Seymour, IN; grandchildren, Jeremy Kyle of Effingham, Kristen Kyle - Brown (Matt) of Effingham and James Prewitt of Aurora; great-grandchildren, Zachary Kyle, Abigail Kyle, Jillian Toops and Eva Toops; several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Scott and Matthew.
