Nancy L. (Boggs) Powell (75) of Effingham

Nancy L. (Boggs) Powell, 75, of Effingham, IL, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL surrounded by her family.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Nancy was born on January 12, 1944, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Olen and Opal (Brockett) Boggs. She was united in marriage to Duon E. Powell on October 20, 1962 at the First Church of God in Effingham. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2019.      

Nancy loved her grandsons. She also loved watching and feeding the hummingbirds. For Nancy, family and animals were her life. She spent her entire life in Boggsville where she loved to call home.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Darren (Tania) Powell and Greg (Angie) Powell and grandsons, Stephen and Benjamin all of Effingham; sister, Eva Kluessendorf; sister-in-law, Karen Boggs; and many nieces and nephews.    

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Duon; parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Eileen Powell; brother, Johnny Boggs; and sister, Carolyn Buening.

Throughout their marriage, Nancy and Duon were never apart. At his passing, a piece of Nancy’s heart went with him. Now they are joyfully reunited!
