Lydia M. (Bixler) Lewis, 96, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 31 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. David Ducommon officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Mode United Methodist Church.

Lydia was born on September 24, 1922 near Mode, IL, the daughter of Jude F. and Lucy O. (McCabe) Bixler. She married William W. Lewis on April 26, 1941 in Clarksville, TN. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2002.

She is survived by her children, Lana M. Miller (Tom) of Shelbyville, IL, Judy Lee Uphoff of Lovington, IL, Phyllis D. Allen of Mode, IL and Randy W. Lewis (Devin) of Burleson, TX; eight grandchildren, Tom Miller (Susan), Tim Miller (Leslie) all of Shelbyville, IL, Tad Miller (Amber) of Morton, IL, Chad Uphoff (Katy) of Minooka, IL, Jenny Moore of Lovington, IL, Tracy Schwenker (John) of Mode, IL, Maggie Lewis (Mikel Mendenhall) of Colorado Springs, CO and Abbey Walk (Greg) of Effingham, IL; sixteen great grandchildren, Cody (Megan), Hayden, and Sydney Miller all of Shelbyville, IL, Will and Calvin Miller of Shelbyville, IL, Reese and Quin Miller of Morton, IL, Abby, Colton, and Caden Uphoff of Minooka, IL, Brady and Brynlee Moore of Lovington, IL, Jude Schwenker of Effingham, IL, Trey Brummer of Effingham, IL and Rendyn and River Dawson of Burleson, TX; three great great grandchildren, Archer and Oliver Miller of Shelbyville, IL and Alice Davis of Effingham, IL. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Franklin Bixler; son-in-law, Roger Uphoff; grandson, Thad L. Uphoff; and sisters-in-law, Jemima Campbell, Delcie Mentz, and Frances Ripley.
