Bruce Paul Petska, Sr. 78, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away Saturday morning, March 23, 2019 in Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Effingham, IL.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 29 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor John Largent officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shelbyville School for Special Olympics.

Bruce was born on May 10, 1940 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the son of Alfred and Margaret (Koenig) Petska. He was a lifelong truck driver, working for Blackhawk Trucking and Don’s Delivery in Janesville, WI and locally for B & J Redi-Mix Concrete and Construction in Shelbyville, IL. He enjoyed gardening and collecting coins and antiques. Bruce married Dorothy Pope on July 29, 1962 and they share six children. She passed away on March 5, 1993.

He is survived by his sons, Bruce Petska of Janesville, WI, Bill Petska of Jefferson, WI, Bob (Dawn) Petska of Janesville, WI, Brad (Jackie) Petska of Shelbyville, IL and Brent (Michele) Petska of Shelbyville, IL: daughter, Victoria (Tim) Bowles of Smyrna, TN; brother, Tom (Darlene) Petska of Tomah, WI; sister, Kay Smith of Crystal Lake, IL; former spouse, Edith Petska; former spouse, Marjorie Petska; 14 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Will (Esther), Harvey (Lillian), Alfred (Eva), Francis (Lila), Raymond, Roger (Bonnie) David, and Kenneth Petska; sisters, Dorothy (Arthur) Hatfield, Shiela (Charlie) Paddock and Rose (Ray) Wawrzyniak; brother-in-law, Leo Smith; former spouse, Dorothy Petska; and two grandchildren, Brittany Baker and Kara Petska.
