Carl Eugene “Pid” Wolfe, Sr., 75 of Louisville, passed away at 3:57 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at his home in Louisville.

He was born on August 5, 1943 in Marseilles, Illinois the son of the late Leonard and Margaret (Wattles) Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe served in the United States Air Force and later he owned and operated Wolfe Well Service in Louisville for more than 25 years.

Pid is survived by three children; Crystal (Sailor) Hasting of Virginia, Carla Christine Wolfe of St. Louis, Missouri and by Carl “Gene” (Brandi) Wolfe Jr. of Flora, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers; Gary (Marilyn) Wolfe of Louisville and Phillip (Chris) Wolfe of Flora, a sister; Faye (Jerry) McGee of Louisville and by several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Ray and Joe Wolfe and by a beloved pet African Gray parrot named Harvey.

In addition to his family, he also left behind various life lessons and witticisms that could only be taught by a man who preferred the name “Pid.”  Pid could have been said to be the unofficial spokesman for Wintergreen Skoal, which he preferred over his false teeth. His teeth of course, spent more time on a table or in a front pocket rather than chewing on rolls of bologna or Twinkies (Which is saying a lot). He taught the younger generations that the bottom of your T-shirt is not suitable for a makeshift napkin, but rather your shoulder is the far better choice. Pid taught us to convince the world that you’re deathly allergic to celery, this way you can enjoy your meal without that dreadful atrocity attacking your taste buds.

While other Superheroes possess super strength or extreme speed, Pid had the insurmountable ability to start bacon grease fires and blow them out in a single breath. As a devoted Cubs fan, he taught us the importance of loyalty, perseverance, and devotion. Without these characteristics, not a single Cubs fan would have made it to the 2016 World Series.

Pid would invite solicitors into his humble abode.  After debating his countless opinions in length, and then some, the solicitors would leave in possession of his vast knowledge and likely never return.  He never knew a stranger, but rather he could call a wrong number and talk for 30 minutes. And if you went to Wal Mart, get out of the front door quick or you will be there for hours talking to everyone who came and went. Finally, he taught us to celebrate life, because in his own words, “you don’t HAVE to do anything, you GET to do everything.”

Memorial services honoring the life of Mr. Wolfe will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family. Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Louisville is in charge of the care and arrangements. You are invited to share your memories of Pid and leave a condolence by clicking here.
