Brenda Kay Bishop, 66, of Mason, IL, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2019 at her home.

As per Brenda’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.

Brenda was born on June 21, 1952, in Clay County, IL, the daughter of Wilber Ray and Jessie Ernestine (Galloway) Davis. She was united in marriage to Douglas R. Bishop on June 1, 1972 in Muskogee, OK.

Brenda was a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years and worked in private duty nursing. She enjoyed quilting, canning vegetables, and mushroom hunting. Brenda was an amateur radio operator, and her call sign was KB9COH. Most importantly, Brenda loved her “babies.”

Brenda is survived by her husband, Doug Bishop of Mason; children, Forrest (Sami) Bishop of Gravel Switch, KY, Amanda (Adam) Krause of Salem, and Johnathon Bishop of Mason; grandchildren, William O’Bryan and Kaylie Krause; and sister, Twila James.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Micheal Bishop; and brother, Forrest Davis.
