Mabel Johanna Marie Traub, 94 of Louisville, passed away at 10:50 am on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at The Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

She was born on December 5, 1924 the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Bergmann) Heiden. Mabel was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Louisville on December 20, 1924. She was united in marriage with Victor Otto Traub on October 23, 1942 and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2011. Mabel worked at her family farm and at the Brown Shoe Factory in Flora and later at the Holiday Inn in Effingham. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Mrs. Traub enjoyed many activities including sewing, playing cards, dominoes, square dancing, going to auctions, attending her grandchildren’s sporting activities, cooking and doing chores on the farm. To her family she could do anything, and she loved being a part of their lives. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Traub is survived by her sons; David (Joyce) Traub of Effingham, Michael (Theresa) Traub of Mason and Dennis (Leslie) Traub of Louisville, sisters; Dorothy Heiden of Flora and Florence Griffy of Louisville, a brother; Dale Heiden of Flora, eight grandchildren; Tonni (Mike) Micklautz, Kimberly (Darin) Blickem, Justin (Tammy) Traub, Chad (Jennifer) Traub, Sarah (Tom) Taylor, Jennifer (Kevin) Billingsley, Jacob (Holly) Traub and Sevn Traub, 14 great-grandchildren; Nathan Micklautz, Abigail Jochums, Stetsen Traub, Clayten Traub, Katherine Blickem, Jack Blickem, Matthew Billingsley, Elizabeth Billingsley, Benjamin Taylor, Charlotte Taylor, Jude Traub and Gabe Traub and Owen and Eli Traub; and by many nieces, nephews and good friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mabel was preceded in death by a son; Steven Traub, brothers; Norman, Donald and Howard Heiden, a sister; Bonnie McKinney and by several beloved brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mabel will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 9 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Louisville. Pastor Stephen Rutherford will officiate. Interment will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday at the church and then again from 9:00 am until the time of services on Saturday. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Care Center in Altamont or to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).
