Howard Dale White, 89, of rural Dieterich, IL, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will follow in Shouse Chapel Cemetery in rural Bible Grove, IL, with military rites. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Howard Dale was born on October 20, 1929 in Jasper County, IL, the son Melvin Dee and Anna Irene (Curtright) White. On November 7, 1954 he married Ethel Marlene Webster, and she preceded him in death May 1, 2001. He later married Doris Evans of Altamont and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2017. Howard Dale was an avid farmer, a member of Headyville Christian Church, and served as a Marine during the Korean War.

He is survived by his children, Marla Stanley (special friend, Chuck) of Neoga, Kevin (Angie) White of Covington, LA, Denise White of Dieterich, Carolyn (Dave) Verwers of Muscatine, IA, and Casey (Holly) White of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily) Stanley, Jessica (Matt) Asselmeier, Jared (Carmen) Stanley, Jason (Jenny) White, Destiny (Seth) Flavin, Nicholas Noulett, Hunter White, Nathan Pelham, McKenzie White, and Jillian White; 7 great-grandchildren, sister, Janice Flach of Montrose; and brother, Myron (Treva) White of Olney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; and a brother-in-law.
