Harold J. Grunloh, 88, of Effingham, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 7:37 a.m., surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2013 at St. Mary Help of Christian Church in Green Creek. Visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Chapel in Effingham, with a 7:00 p.m. K of C Rosary. Burial is in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military rites. Harold was born on April 27, 1924 in Effingham County, the son of George H. and Elizabeth (Dust) Grunloh. He married Eileen Williamson and she preceded him in death on April 7, 2005.
Harold worked in construction, brick laying, and was retired from farming. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne and served his country in Japan during WWII. Harold was a member of St. Mary Help of Christian Church in Green Creek, Knights of Columbus Council #665, American Legion Post #120, and VFW Post #1769 of Effingham.
Survivors include Daniel (Diana) Grunloh of Loda, IL, Bruce (Cheryl) Grunloh of Effingham, Diane (Charles) Witte of Fond du Lac, WI, Terry (Sandra) Grunloh of Effingham, Robin (James) Willey of Effingham, Tim (Cindy) Grunloh of Teutopolis, 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eileen and one son Gary Allen Grunloh.
