Agnes A. Deters, 90, of Sigel died Sunday, February 10, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Feburary 18 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sigel with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Agnes was born on April 10, 1928, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Ben and Mary (Meyer) Doedtman. She was united in marriage to Leonard T. Deters on April 29, 1950 in Green Creek, IL, and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1987.

Agnes was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, and quilting, even making many quilts for her family. Agnes was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

Agnes is survived by her children, Vernon (Jackie) Deters of Charleston, Barb Kingery of Neoga, Shirley (Larry) Horath of Decatur, Jerry (Betty) Deters of Toledo, Mary (Randy) Black of Brownstown, Linda (Joseph) Stodden of Sigel, and Sandy (Paul) Bloemer of Bloomington; grandchildren, Julie Deters, Shane Deters, Amy Jo Willenborg, William “Bill” Kingery, Melanie Phelps, Patrick Horath, Tim Deters, Stephanie Deters, Angela Craig, Jessica Black, Ashley Katt, Jacob Stodden, Megan Bloemer, Emily Bloemer, Adam Bloemer, and Abby Bloemer; 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson; and sisters-in-law, Florence Doedtman and Dorothy Doedtman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Clem Doedtman, Frank Doedtman, Dick Doedtman, and George Doedtman; and sisters, Isabell Bloemer, Betty Bergfield, and Christine Niebrugge.
