Gerald Leon “Gerry” Brown Jr, 77, of Pana, IL, formerly of Effingham, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Gerald was born on November 1, 1941, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Gerald L. and Millie V. (Depew) Brown Sr. He was united in marriage to Juanita G. Thomas on September 29, 1976 at the Second Baptist Church in Vandalia and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2014. Gerald was a member of Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church in Lakewood, IL. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, enjoyed bowling, watching Westerns and John Wayne, and traveling with his wife, Juanita. He also drove for Effingham Taxi.

Gerald is survived by his siblings, Phillip (Phyllis) Brown of Pana, Glema (Gerald) Sours of Vandalia, Cheryl Vohlken (Bob McNealy) of Mason, Curtis Brown of Bingham, Raymond “Kent” (Rhonda) Brown of Pana, Bert (Patty) Cunningham of Wrights Corner, and Hazel Cunningham; step-sons, Tony Milligan of Maryland and Tom Milligan of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Brown; infant daughter, Rebecca Carol Brown; father, Gerald Brown; mother, Minnie Virginia Cunningham; mother, Ida Mae Brown; and brother, Larry Cunningham.
