Wallace “Wally” Lape, 81, of Vandalia, IL, formerly of Effingham, passed away at 12:56 PM Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.
 
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 11 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. A Visitation will be held prior to services from 9:00-11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Wallace Jean Lape was born on June 16, 1937 in Vandalia, IL, the son of the late Levi and Rhoda (Hunter) Lape. He married Shirley (Stokes) Stewart; she preceded him in death. Wally was retired from Blankenship Auto Parts, Vandalia and was a member of the Vandalia Moose Lodge #1447.
 
He is survived by his daughters, Crystal and husband Kevin Aukamp of Vandalia and Pam Riggs of Shelbyville; stepson, David Stewart and wife, Vicki of Effingham; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Nancy Lape; stepson, Norman “Huey” Stewart; sisters, Sue Dugan, Lou Berry, and Marie Hodson; and brothers Millard, Paul, Charles, Ed, and Steve Lape.
