James Emmett Garrett, 90, of Odessa, Texas, formerly of Kinmundy, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital, Odessa, Tex.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26 at 11 a.m. at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy with Randy VanAusdall officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 25 from 5-7 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy. Military rites will be by American Legion. Burial will be in Sandy Branch Cemetery, rural Kinmundy. Memorials may be made to Sandy Branch Cemetery or donor's choice.

James was born May 4, 1922, the son of Frank and Pearle (Jones) Garrett. He married Laura Jean Green December 31, 1949 at Kinmundy Christian Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was co-owner of Oilwell Servicing Company and a member of American Legion #519 in Illinois and Bethany Christian Church in Odessa, Tex.

Survivors are his wife; daughters, Denise (husband Richard) Kelly of Odessa, Tex. and Carla (husband Dan) Pack of Southlake, Tex.; sister, Donna (husband Bill) Beard of Alma; grandchildren, Angela Pack (husband Noel) Ortiz of Springdale, Ark.; Kristie Pack (husband  Jason) Graham of Mount Pleasant, Tex.; Michelle Pack (husband Tim) Brower of Denver, Colo; Garrett Kelly of Odessa, Tex. and Clayton Kelly of Odessa,  Tex. and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gladys Chandler.
