Edna D. Hamilton, 85, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 19 at New Hope Church in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church. Edna was born on October 26, 1934, in Grahn, KY, the daughter of Harvey and Winnie Ellen (Kiser) Bishop. She was united in marriage to Burnice “Bernie” Hamilton on December 22, 1949, and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1991.

Edna attended New Hope Church and was involved in church ministry. She had Bible study groups at her home. She loved to garden. Edna especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Edna is survived by her children, Kenneth B. Hamilton of Rock Hill, SC, Chris Hamilton of Effingham; Jason Malone of Oklahoma City, OK, and James (Nicole) Hamilton of Effingham; grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Strong of Denver, CO, Tate (Sarah) Hamilton of Lake Wylie, SC, Trevor (Amber) Hamilton of Paso Robles, CA, Morgan (Sam) Knobeloch of Rock Hill, SC, Aleah Hamilton of Effingham, Kaylee Hamilton of Effingham, Jovie Hamilton of Effingham, and Layton Diaz of St. Louis, MO; great-grandchildren, Brody Hamilton, Tate Jordan Hamilton, Savannah Hamilton, Ellie May Strong, Ruby Jo Hamilton, Finley Anne Strong, Faith Hamilton, Grace Hamilton, and Skylor Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernie; daughter, Roma Hamilton; and daughter-in-law, Rita Hamilton.
