Arlene Rife (95) of Newton

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Thursday, January 17 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, with Jonathan Broscious officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery in Latona, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday. Arlene was born on July 5, 1923 in Muddy Township, Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Pearl Clagg and Pearl (Martin) Clagg. She was a member of the Latona Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards and sewing. Arlene married Sylvan Rife on February 8, 1941 and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughters Carol Dial and Cheryl Biggs Nuxoll, her brother Burnell Clagg and her grandson, Scott Biggs.
She is survived by 4 grandchildren: Cindy and Tom Jansen of Effingham, Illinois, Toni Chisler of Watson, Illinois, Tammy Biggs of Effingham, Illinois, and Todd Dial of Dietrich, Illinois; 2 Sisters: Eloise Butler of Newton, Illinois and Wilma Cochran of Newton, Illinois; 10 Great Grandchildren; 15 Great-Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Great Grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
