Ronnie Lee Barnes, 81, of Toledo (formerly of Jewett) passed away at 1:15 p.m. at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center surrounded by his family on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Ronnie was born November 11, 1937 to Calla (Greeson) and Roscoe Barnes at their home in Jewett, IL. He married Judy Mooday on February 16, 1958. He was a member of the first freshman class to attend Cumberland High School where he graduated in 1956. Following high school, he attended Eastern Illinois University. He retired from Fedders in Effingham and then worked as an engineer consultant for Big 3 Precision Products in Centralia.

He was a member of the Jewett Community Church, served as Woodbury Township Supervisor for many years and was a farmer. Ronnie enjoyed construction and assisted in the building of both the new sanctuary at the Jewett Community Church and the Cumberland High School wrestling room.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, their four children Steve Barnes, Teresa (Kim) Allison, Danita (Brad) Starwalt and Rhonda (Troy) Wilson; nine grandchildren Kendra (Travis) Brading, Kyle (Jessi) Allison, Tiffany (Justin) Wallace, Jennifer (Cameron Finney) Barnes, Jeff (Sydney) Barnes, Macie (Logan) Boyd, Clay (Leah) Wilson, Makenzie (Tyler) Flood and Gabby Barnes as well as sixteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Ernie and Harold. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Cheryl Barnes.

The funeral will be held at the Jewett Community Church Fellowship Center at 10:00 AM Friday January 11, with burial at the Jewett Cemetery. Visitation will be also be held at the fellowship center on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Arrangements are being planned through Barkley Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Jewett Community Church.
