Eufala Viola Bigard, age 90, of Ste. Marie, Illinois, passed away at 1:25 AM - Friday, December 07, 2018, at the Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, Illinois.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Tuesday, December 11 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Monday at the church and 1 hour before the mass. In loving memory of Eufala, memorials may be made to the Jasper County READ program or Teutopolis Education Foundation. Eufala was born on January 14, 1928, in Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, the daughter of Knox C. and Mattie L.(Price) Bowser. She married Eugene A. Bigard on October 22, 1946, in Laramie, Wyoming, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2009.

Eufala was an elementary teacher for 28 years and taught students at Ste. Marie, Yale and Olney.

Eufala was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois; Jasper County Home Extension; Jasper County Retired Teachers Association, St. Mary’s Altar Society, Springfield Dioceses Council of Catholic Women and had been a 4-H leader.

Eufala enjoyed traveling, crocheting, quilting, music and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Eufala is survived by: Daughters – Sandra (husband Bruce) Fisher of Teutopolis, Illinois; Marjorie (husband Jack) Thompson of Ste. Marie, Illinois; Virginia “Ginger” (husband Jim) Robins of Newton, Illinois and Deborah (husband Bruce) Dallman of Pittsburg, Kansas

8 Grandchildren – Chad (wife Heather) Fisher, Julie (husband Jason) Warfel, Jill (husband Michael) Briggerman, Jason (wife Deann) Robins, Heather Westemeir, Laura (husband Mitch) Dallman-Rorick, David (wife Michele) Dallman and Rebekah (husband Joshua) Dallman-Johnson

12 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild, Sister-in-law – Mary Nell Bowser of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Brother-in-law – Earl Easter of Tallahassee, Florida.

Eufala was preceded in death by her parents Knox and Mattie Bowser, husband Eugene Bigard, granddaughter Shauna Fisher, brothers Othel and Don Bowser and sisters Johnnie (husband Pat) Moran and Charolette Easter.
