William Allen Campton, 69, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his home in Shumway.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Shumway. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Allen was born May 5, 1949 in Effingham, the son of Winfred and Emma (Staggs) Campton. He married Pamela A. Day on April 20, 1969. Allen served with the United States National Guard. He was a carpenter, and worked at MBI Construction and Landmark Structures. Allen owned and operated C&C Crane Service. He had a love of farming beginning at an early age and throughout his life. He was a member of Greenland Masonic Lodge #0665. Allen and Pamela raised, trained and showed quarter horses for many years.  Allen enjoyed traveling and riding his Goldwing bike with his wife and friends.

Allen is survived by his wife, Pamela of Shumway; sister, Jean Fruchtl of Effingham; nephew, Bruce Fruchtl of LaCrosse, WI and niece, Erin Fruchtl of Warsaw, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry and brother-in-law, William John Fruchtl.
