Gene Arganbright, 89, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Windsor, IL, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 3 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Jon Fulton officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, IL. Memorials may be given to Lincolnland Hospice.

Gene was born on July 7, 1929 in Fancher, IL, the daughter of Selby and Fanny M. Debolt Hopkins. She married Dwight Eugene Arganbright on July 29, 1949. Gene helped her husband farm and was the first woman bus driver in the Windsor School District. She also worked as a nurse’s aid in nursing homes in Shelbyville and Effingham for many years. Gene and Dwight loved traveling and especially enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas, NV.

She is survived by her son, Tom Arganbright (Sandy Althoff) of Effingham, IL, daughter, Esther Dickmann (Fred) of Altamont, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dwight, on December 25, 1997; infant son; brothers, Kenneth and Dale Hopkins; sisters, Alvena Childress, Retha Townsend, and June Edwards Norfleet; and step-sister, Fern Ellen Page.
