Karen Rose Thompson, 76, of Herrick, IL, passed away at 6:44 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2018 in her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27 in Herrick Baptist Church, Herrick, IL with Pastor Jay Huddleston and Pastor Kenny Morell officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday.  Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Herrick, IL.  Memorials may be given to the Herrick Township Public Library, Herrick, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL.

Karen was born on February 7, 1942 in Herrick, IL the daughter of Floyd William and Lucille Eileen (Waters) Clark. She graduated from Herrick High School the Class of 1960. Karen was the librarian at Herrick Township Public Library for many years. She also worked for Burrus Grocery Store in Herrick, IL, Secretary of State in Springfield, IL and Thompson Mowing Services in Herrick, IL. Karen was a member of the Herrick Baptist Church, Herrick, IL and served on the Herrick Election Board for 21 years. 

Karen married Gene Allen Thompson on August 26, 1960 at the Cowden Christian Church, Cowden, IL.

She is survived by her husband, Gene of Herrick, IL; mother, Frieda Marie Clark of Herrick, IL; sons, Todd Thompson and Chad Thompson (Michelle) all of Herrick, IL; daughters, Tonya Downs (Dennis) of Shelbyville, IL and Tara Cox of Cowden, IL; sisters, Patricia Robertson of Shelbyville, IL, Lana Stevens of Cowden, IL, Lori Buff of Herrick, IL, Debra Fouts of Herrick, IL, Gloria Evans (Rick) of Ottawa, IL, Gail Rauch of Pana, IL, and Janeen Morell (Kenny) of Herrick, IL; brothers, Lynn Clark (Kathy) of Assumption, IL and Dennis Christian (Monica) of Tower Hill; sister-in-law, Bev Christian of Ohlman, IL; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd; mother, Lucille Eileen Christian; son, Mitchell Thompson; sister, Doretta Ballard (Larry); and brothers, Gary Christian and Denyle “Butch” Christian.
