John Douglas Coin, 78, of Beecher City, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

John was born October 18, 1940, in Shumway, to Jack and Julia (Miller) Coin the oldest of seven children. He and Bonnie Doty were married on April 1, 1961. John retired from World Color Press, Inc and farmed all his life in the Beecher City area. He loved nothing more than helping people and having his friends and grandchildren around. If you saw John’s dog Sammy, you knew John was close by as Sammy followed John everywhere he went. John was a very hard-working individual and enjoyed working on anything and everything, there was nothing he could not fix.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie of Beecher City; son, Jay D. (Julie) Coin of Beecher City; grandchildren: Jason Coin of Beecher City and Jordyn Coin of Effingham and sister, Peggy Johnson of Denton, TX.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Frank John and Elizabeth Miller; parents, Jack and Julia Coin; son, Todd Alan; sisters: Wanda and Rita; brothers: Albert, Jimmy and Frankie; uncle, Frank Woodrow Miller and Aunt Bernice Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 19 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City with Sid Hutchison officiating. Burial will take place in Beecher City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made in his name.
