Alice was born on March 25, 1923, in Villa Grove, IL, the daughter of Bernard F. and Catherine (Niendick) Kemme. Her early years were spent in Effingham where she attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Effingham High School. Along with her mother Catherine and brother Paul, Alice was a co-owner and operator of The Beehive Restaurant in downtown Effingham in the 1950s and early 1960s.

She married Everett M. Bailey Jr. on February 13, 1971 and together they operated a farm in the Lovington area. Unfortunately, Everett passed away on November 9, 1984 thus Alice has been a widow for the last thirty-four years. She lived in Decatur for many years, then at the Keystone Assisted Living Facility on Mound Road in Decatur. After her health deteriorated more she moved to Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, IL.

Alice is survived by two step-daughters, Kay McCoy of Sullivan, IL and Betty Grant of Fort Myers, FL; also cousins, Richard and Donna Feldhake of Effingham, who have helped her along for the past five years; and other cousins too numerous to mention.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett Bailey Jr.; brother, Paul Kemme; aunts, Agnes Seitz and Anna Westendorf; and uncle, Tony Niendick.
